The recently enacted Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (TCJA) included a tax deferral and exclusion provision not widely publicized until recently.
Now, real-estate developers, high net worth individuals, nonprofit groups, and local governments are among those discussing the Federal Opportunity Zone incentive (the “Opportunity Zone Incentive”) and its potential applications.
The Opportunity Zone Incentive, still in its infancy, was established to encourage capital investment in underserved areas by deferring and eliminating capital gain from any source, including real estate and the stock market.
Given its potential, any individual or entity with capital gains might want to consider this as an alternative to a 1031 exchange or as a tax-advantaged mechanism to diversify stock market gains into real estate.
Please join us for a BOSS special seminar, where Jeremy Morris, CPA and Kirk Duncan, CPA discuss the law underlying the Opportunity Zone Incentive, the structure of the investment vehicles and the practical considerations involved with sponsoring and/or investing in opportunity zone funds.
RSVP by Friday, March 22nd.
This is a free seminar but space is limited.
