WK offers the right fit for Truman State graduate
As a student at Truman State University, Shelby Graham, CPA sought a tax internship opportunity that would satisfy several specific criteria.
First, she narrowed her focus to firms near her hometown, Hannibal, Mo., and Columbia, where her then fiancé, now husband, would complete his post-graduate studies. She preferred a firm that would provide technical resources and mentoring that she needed to grow as a professional. She also wanted her internship to serve as a potential precursor to full-time employment.
Shelby found all of those things at WK.
After serving a tax internship that started in the fall of 2012, Shelby joined the firm full-time in the spring of 2013 and has advanced to a Tax Senior position.
“Working with other students and professors at Truman prepared me for working with WK staff, managers, and partners during my internship and into my full-time role,” says Shelby, who works with a variety of the firm’s business clients. “I feel very comfortable asking questions or seeking out help from someone who might be more knowledgeable than I am – depth of resources is a great benefit that WK provides.”
The firm’s commitment to community involvement is also important to Shelby.
