WK supports Shoe-in for Foster Care event
During the month of April, WK members and associates collected new and gently used shoes as part of the Central Missouri Foster Care and Adoption Association’s “Shoe In for Foster Care” event.
CMFCAA uses the donated shoes to line the steps and front lawn of the capitol building in Jefferson City to raise awareness of the number of children in Missouri’s foster care system. Each shoe is to represent one of the 13,098 children in foster care this year.
The Shoe In for Foster Care event was held on Wednesday, May 13. Following the event the shoes will be donated to Hope for Caribbean Kids, Inc., which raises money to build schools in Haiti and fund clean water programs in Haiti and Kenya.
Each month, WK selects a charitable organization that members and associates support through fundraising activities or hands-on volunteer work. We also share information regarding the organization’s mission, impact on the community, and opportunities for additional involvement. WK tax associate Kirk Duncan, CPA, serves as treasurer of CMFCAA’s board of directors.
