Striking the Right Balance
Former Truman student-athlete finds opportunity with WK
“There is so much for me to learn right now, and in some ways it’s like being a student again,” says Paul, the Bulldogs’ all-time leader in hits, runs batted in and total bases. “I’m learning to apply the accounting concepts I learned at Truman to my work as an auditor, and I’m truly pleased to start my career at a great firm like WK.”
Truman State University ’16
As a member of the Truman State University baseball team, Paul Trenhaile became accustomed to balancing the demands of a full academic schedule in a nationally regarded accounting program with the sport he loves.
“I had to learn how to prioritize and manage my schedule to accommodate both academics and baseball,” says Paul, who graduated from Truman with masters of accountancy in 2016 and recently passed the CPA exam. “The strategies I used to help stay focused and have success in class and on the field have been a solid foundation in the early stage of my professional career.”
Paul served an audit internship with WK in 2015, working with many of the firm’s employee benefit plan audit clients. Since rejoining the firm full-time, Paul’s expanded focus includes the firm’s large agricultural cooperative clients and a variety of other business entities.
