Pacesetters start their campaigns early, meet certain targets for growth and involvement, and provide leadership for the rest of the community campaigns.
WK’s efforts kicked off in July with the 5th Annual Accounting Olympics, in which both offices compete against each other in a variety of games such as kickball, volleyball, and a 10-key calculator race.
In August, WK partnered with Fetchel Beverage to host a Fall Beer Preview, where guests purchased tickets to taste ten beverages, ranging from Oktoberfest beer to hard soda.
The firm also hosted a Big Screen Trivia Night at Shakespeare’s Pizza, where teams tried to answer movie trivia questions in categories including Movie Directors, Oscar Winners, and Hand-Drawn Movie Posters. The questions were created by WK’s Director of Information Technology, Ken Lange, who also served as emcee of the night. Team Hoot ‘N Hollers won the trivia contest in a landslide.
Other activities to raise money for United Way included a Crock-Pot cook-off at both offices and jeans days on Fridays. Members and associates also made personal pledges for giving during 2017.
United Way is the largest privately-funded nonprofit in the world and is engaged in nearly 1,800 communities across more than 40 countries and territories worldwide. The main focus of their work is to improve education, strengthen financial stability, and make communities healthier.
