1. How has public accounting changed over the course of your career, and how is it the same?

Technology has dramatically changed how we perform work and deliver services – no more greenbar paper, “Pentels,” or manual general ledgers! What hasn’t changed is the need to be able to communicate effectively with folks and deliver excellent service.

2. Are you fanatic about any sports team?

St. Louis Cardinal baseball. My dad always listened to the game on the radio, so I was always exposed to Cardinal baseball. I played baseball from little league through high school so have a very good understanding of the game. I guess my fanaticism has carried through to my children as all are Cardinal fans – my youngest daughter and her husband even named their brindle boxer “Gibson” after Bob Gibson, the Cardinals’ Hall of Fame pitcher!

3. Have you taken a fun vacation recently, or is one in the works?

We have a vacation planned for the whole family (three children and spouses and five grandchildren) in Grand Cayman.

4. Who do you admire most in the community, and why?

Marylyn DeFeo, who in 1987 founded and continues to operate the Samaritan Center. Her selfless desire to be of service in helping those less fortunate is exemplary.

5. When you aren’t working, what are you doing?

Spending time with family, boating and spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks, watching Cardinal baseball/Blues hockey, listening to music, reading, and whatever else Melita tells me to do!
